They were ferried over to the UK for a film about the Berlin Airlift, which hasn't happened yet - funding problems I believe. Have been parked at North Weald ever since.

Both in USAF markings, one a MATS scheme and the other basic silver:

WOW!
Its good to see the paint is still on there. The paint on the MATS airplane has been on there for 10 years or so. Our late friend Chuck Churchward led the group of guys that painted the airplane on the ramp in Lawrence, MA.

Do they run them?

They did at first, although I'm not sure that they've been run for a couple of years or so now. :(

Thats too bad,

That airplane looked wonderful flying in formation with Vern's Connie, back in the days of Wings of Eagles airshows in Elmira, NY!

I was in the line shack in the front of our hangar in Bedford, Ma (KBED)
and I saw the airplane finally arriving at Lawrence, Ma (KLWM) to the northeast. The boys had a few snags that delayed flying the airplane there from out west. Vernon set them up with a paint stripper out in Arizona, and the airplane arrived in LWM nice and shiny. A little while later, Chuck and a bunch of other volunteers, masked and painted most of the stripes on the airplane.

What year was that? pre 1998 I would guess. I made ever show after 1998.

I wish I could've seen the formation, but alas, I was onboard the C-54 during that flight and had to settle for this. Image

I think it was in 1996 that me and Ken went to Elmira.

Maybe it would have been Batavia, NY

The year would have to have been 96, Holy Crap Philo, that was 10 years ago!
