Hi Loco,

For printing reasons could you possibly lighten up the black border? Personally, I would like to see a more modern font to match the feel of the skyline. THe old west font is very nice, but I think it conflicts a bit. But this is just my opinion. I love the modern background, and I agree with what you said about showing warbirds in modern day. Having done graphic arts for several years myself, I understand the difference between a rough draft and a final draft

I had several customers that demanded 17,000 revisions before they were finally satisfied with my work :evil:

For a rough draft I'm impressed! It is a very good start! BTW, love, love, love, the Mustang, but then I am less than non bised!

BTW Guys! So far, I have only had 2 people send me recipes. I am thinking of making the deadline for submitting recipes April 30th. I have 14 weeks of classes starting in March, and I really want to get these done before Air show season is in full swing, so this is a good timetable for me. Does that work for everyone? Let me know

Thanks again, Karen. Sure, I could change the black to whatever you would like and yes, the font needs to be different, but to be honest, if it's going to be a back cover, none of that print would be in the design anyway. Maybe it would be best let the colors of the front cover dictate what color the black area should be changed to?

Lord do I know where you are coming from with clients wanting endless numbers of revisions :lol:

I had to draw up contracts stating that there will be a specific number of major revisions before the prices begin to increase, it makes things alot easier! :wink:

I mentioned the fact it's a rough draft only because some people are not aware there is such a thing, many assume that once it's been created it's set in stone... :lol:

I'm a admitted no talent hack when it comes to drawing. But here's my .02 on the cover. Call this the hillbilly version.

I love it! If it doesn't work for one of the covers, I will find a place for it somewhere inside......Perhaps before some anecdotal information, or on one of the category dividers!

I agree with Col. Rohr, short stories and regional recipes can sometimes make for an interesting read. Reference Material: Flying Tiger Joe's Adventure Story Cookbook, written by C. Joseph Rosbert, AVG 1st Sqdrn.

One correction though...it is my Dad's Uncle's, P-51. Daddy is still alive! I will be happy to include info about Dean's plane, only if I hear enough people want me to.

I like the, this day in history, idea......any volunteers to put somethiing together for me, pretty please

I think it be cool to include the board members Birthday's too!

Pictures will be no problem, you all decide what you want, and I will work them in.

Hi Karen et al--

Got a cartoon done; AVG P-40, Aussie Spitfire, sharkmouthed T-33 around a table. No way to post it here but I'll send a scan ASAP. (Karen-- PM me your snailmail address; I'll send a copy of the cartoon that way too and will include those two recipes I wrote down years ago). BTW I think my cartoon and Jack's would go together OK in style; maybe they could appear inside the book while the cover was more "serious"?

The other thing I've got to figure out is Warbird-related names for a chicken-and-fruit curry and a sausage-and-sundried-tomato pasta dish. "Indian Tempest Chicken" and "Penne e Salcicce Folgore", maybe??

Do you still want more recipes? I think I can get my sisters to drag up one that came from my uncle's uncle from whom I inherited part of my 12th Air Force WW2 uniform. He was an intelligence officer in the USAAF there in the Mediterranean.

1 3/4 cup of water poured into a microwave safe bowl (found that out the hard way)

One box of Kraft macaronni and cheese

Mix it all together and put it in the microwave for four minutes.

Stir

Four more minutes

Stir

Four more minutes

Add 1/4 cup of milk and about a spoonful of butter

Stir

Let it sit on the counter for about ten minutes while you read your email.

Eat out the bowl with the butter spoon while standing at the doorway and watching "True Grit" on video and drinking from the milk carton

Repeat at least three or four nights a week. Fill in other nights with Taco Bell.
