The rumor mill says the collection is going to the City of Phoenix, AZ for their new museum at Sky Harbor airport. This would be a sad day since these are flyable airplanes. First Hawaii, now Phoenix. Wonder what we are going to be watching at the warbird shows in a few years...

That's really disappointing, I hope it's not the case. Tillamook was the first time I'd ever been to an aviation museum and I drive right by it every time I go to see my mom.

I hope it's just a rumor.

Just remember Jack Erickson owns the airplanes and can sell anytime.
The same for Evergreen. A friend who works there said once that their biggest fear was showing up for work in the morning and finding an empty building. A wise man once said everything's for sale ie Lone Star A-20/Bearcat/Wildcat.

I was told recently by a very reliable source that the potential sale of many of Jack's warbirds to the City of Phoenix/Sky Harbor Airport has fallen through and is now dead. Yeah!!

Off to Tillamook today! Going to my moms place at the coast for the weekend. She informed me yesterday that after this weekend they're closing the museum for three months for restorations. (That sounds like a step in the right direction to me!) Anyhow, so going to go check it out one last time before they close. Pictures on Tuesday! Have a great holiday everyone!

You know, that makes sense... for the past year I have been seeing photos of planes in their collection under this plastic tarp "tent" in the hangar. Perhaps they are making much needed repairs to that monsterous hangar...

I always wondered, with the recent troubles at Moffett Field with their blimp hangar being condemned, could/would something similar ever happen at Tillamook?

Maybe the tent coverings have more to do with bird droppings and condensation issues?

The circus tent is a long term affair and has been up for a number of years. The purpose of it is the protect Mr. Erickson's a/c from the thousands of birds living in the rafters and the constant stream of gravity induced bird sh*t falling from the heavens. It's large enought for I'm guessamating 14-16 airplanes with the rest in or I guess under the line of fire.

The last time I was there it look has if it had just snowed in the hanger. The Silver Lady is a particurally juicy target.
