Yes... the CAF 47 is sponsored by Cavanaugh and is under rebuild. Last I heard it was coming along nicely. CAF had a spare wing so the airframe is going back together up at the Sherman, TX - Grayson County airport.

it should be back up in 2006.

It will be hard to have 3 or 4 show up at best. but it will be neat. best of luck

I am confused...
When I was at the Tennessee Air Museum 2 weeks ago, P-47 45-49130 N9246W looked like it was complete and I thought I've seen shots of this bird airborne. Is this not the case? What still needs to be done to this bird to make it airworthy???

There are 2 flyable P-47's at the Museum right now. Neal Melton "Hun Hunter" and John Shoffner Thunderbolt .

Since this thread seems to be on airworthy Jugs, the ones that Klaurs are rebuilding are they going to be flyers and does anyone have any recent photos or updates on how the restoration is going.

Ask O'Leary... Thanks to him nobody will ever see photos from there again.

I talked with Col. Walker "BUD" Mahurin from the 56FG with 19.75 Kills, and he will be attending the Thunderbolt show in Cincy, and signing autographs. I have received several phone calls and letters from Thunderbolt drivers that are going to make the trip. This will be a great show.

They are working on a bubbletop for FHC that came out of South America. Some of the work had been completed elsewhere before they got it.

I was wondering about the PNG stuff but aren't they still working on one late model 47 or did they get that one done.

P-47N 44-90447/N1345B American Airpower Museum

The American Airpower Museum’s P-47 I thought it was a "D" not an "N" model. If so I thought the wing tips on the N's where squared off. Jacky's are rounded. I know someone can clear this up.

Also I remember that Yanks Air Museum in CA is a P-47M. In the registry is is under the D listings. Is that correct?

It is a YP-47M (pre-production). I think that the serial number corresponds to a D-model however since that is the fuselage the factory made it from.

There are three razorback P-47Ds at Rialto from PNG. At least one of them is currently being restored.
