It may not compare to getting a thousand bombers over Germany and it's not the largest formation I've ever flown in. I was in a 37 ship Herk formation many years ago. However, getting 20 C-17s airborn and over the bridge and drop zone is quite a task. It's fun to do something besides fly to the war constantly.

I had some problems with an airdrop system and they just couldn't sort it out to suit me so my plane was the only one that didn't do a drop. However, that made it possible for us to just fly around with the ramp and door open, definately the best seat in the house. Seeing seven planes in front of you and twelve behind is a pretty cool sight. I love my job but today I was very proud to be in the USAF.

Dang Brad, that is about the coolest thing I've seen in a while! Good to see you're able to enjoy some of your time over there and that you're safe. Of course, I say that while you're hanging off the edge of an open ramp of a flying C-17, but I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

Fly safe and hurry home!

Gary

Nice one Brad, a very impressive formation. I'm surprised that they could round up 20 airframes in one place, I thought most of you guys would be busy going to and from the mid-East at the moment.

I get to see the occasional C-17 over this part of the world now they're delivering them to Travis.

All the best for the Holidays to you.

Mike

Brad,
You're a true renaissance man.
Very cool!
BTW Gary wants to hear how you tried to blow me & Bud
off the wing of Crash's TBM trying to start it!! There's nothing
like having too much bad advice eh?! :)

Wow. Those shots are astounding.

I get to see a C-17 from time to time on approach to Andrews. When I used to live further down-county in Rockville, we were right under the approach to Andrews, so I saw a lot more back then.

Awesome photos Brad. I never got the chance to jump out of C-17 when I was stationed in Fort Bragg and always had to settle for the C-141'S and Herc's  How many paratroopers can they hold????
