Airport Critters

Thu Dec 21, 2006 12:56 pm

The cat pictures on the latest thread about FIFI made me think that perhaps we should start a thread showing everyone's local airport animals. When I was in Memphis, we always had plenty of 'hangar dogs' (which I dearly miss). Now I'm just stuck with a couple of ol' worthless cats here.

Looks like you already have two full-time volunteers to help you with "Lil". Just don't get too ambitious and start fabricating a litter box in "Lil" next to the floor gun you're working on!

This was the look on Smokie's face when I informed him about scoring that huge pallet of ball turret parts on barnstormers recently.

If I could find a picture of D. Ceglinski, I would post it here.

This is Phantom -- I brought him home after the hurricanes that kicked our butts at ISM a couple years ago.............He was a GREAT airport cat!

I had the best cat ever until he ran off "on a grand adventure" and didnt return. Gilmore was named after Roscoe Turners lion. Here he is atop my computer. He was trying to get my attention while I was researching Staggerwings! Climbed up like that on his own.

My family has had many Golden Retrievers. Here I am with our current ones a.k.a. "da boyz" a few years ago at a local fly-in. (That is the Fairchild XNQ in the background) They were a HIT! Also a few years back they traveled via motorhome to Oshkosh with my Mom while I flew my 170 in. They are about 80lbs each now!

As an added bonus... A friend of mine in Australia sent me pics of his cat inside his R/C 180!

Napping cat in the R/C 180 is hysterical!

Here's a shot of my Lab/Retriever Tasha who passed away about a year ago at 14 years. She loved the airport and was very airplane savy. She loved laying behind the Stearman and T-6 when the they were running. She also chewed up every set of wood chocks she could get a hold of. Except for one memorable incident involving one of the airport foxes that she chased halfway across the airport I never had to worry about where she was or what she was up to.

Phantom and Rosie at my former office at ISM, The Tiki Hut -- Phantom had to be put down over the summer, Rosie disappeared after the 2nd of the hurricanes to hit us in 2004, and the Tiki Hut disappeared just recently to make way for some new airport construction projects.......

Here is Happy Dog- one of the critters that can be found in Gerry Beck's Hanger. She is a stern taskmaster, possesing an eye for detail, but has weakness for fried potato products from fast food establishments....

Here's Hartzell, our resident hangar cat. She's currently making sure the Beaver we're working on is done proper.

Almost forget to show a pic of my sweet "Doe" named "Oreo". During the winter months I let her run around in the basement to get her exercise. She loves hopping in and around the turret parts all stacked up on the floor. Unfortunately, I have to sweep up the bunny pellets about once a week.

That little ball of fuzz sticking out of my flight suit pocket is Sid the kitten. He died of some kind of kitty disease not long after. If you guys think I’m going to post 20 year old photos of myself, you’re wrong!

A few years later. Undisclosed dog at undisclosed airport early one Sunday morning. No, that’s not me under the blanket.

Present day. That’s Piper with her four kittens, T-6, T-28, Pratt and Whitney.

I’m glad to see the cats winning this thread so far. If you want to see what mouse urine can do to aluminum, take a look halfway down this page.

better not let the local chinese restaurant get a hold of those pics, as well as it's airport location.
