This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Django,
If you are really wanting to ride in a P-51 you may consider the Indiana Aviation Museum in Valparaiso, IN. The museum is only 1 hr to 1hr 30 minutes from down town Chicago. The ride is 30 minutes of which 20 is airborne. I believe the price is $1,000. For more info go to

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Excellent, Scott!

Well, Scott you could head over here to the Hossier State and take a ride in a beautiful T-28 for $500 at my favorite aviation museum. Every time I see that plane fly I wish I had a spare $500 bucks.

Might be stretching the Warbird tag slightly but.......I hope to get a flight in a Avro Anson,Gloster Meteor and / or de Havilliand Vampire this year. With a flight in a DC3 and de Haviland Rapide, thrown in for good measure!
In my defence ,the early versions of the Anson and Meteor flew in WW2....
Cheers, Alan.
Ps .If I am really lucky, I might get invited to fly in a EE Canberra..........

I am pretty sure I will be flying in the S-2 this year, probably a T-6/SNJ if I get a chance. There are only about 3 airplanes left that I would die for a ride in, which are a P-47, B-25 and a B-29. But I will never turn down an airplane ride. Also, if anybody is interested, if everything goes according to plan this winter we will be offering rides in our S-2 this summer.

Not to thow a wet blanket on everybody's parade, but Craig's comment reminds me to advise anyone that is going for a ride to be sure of the pilot's capabilities.
If the pilot operates rides for one of the organizations that regularly fly rides (ie: CAF, Collings, EAA etc.), there should be no concern, but there are many different skill levels out there and over the years there are more than a few pilots that I did NOT to ride with, even though they kindly offered me a unique opportunity.
There are a couple of well known, long time, warbird owners that I actually know and like, but would never fly with them.
Blue skies,
Jerry

I'd donate a limb for medical testing purposes if I could go for a warbird ride! I think it would be an absolutely amazing experience and my fingers are crossed that something will come up this year!

Think about coming down here for a couple of days over the weekend. I might be able to hook you up with a T28 ride. While you're not flying, you can hang out in SF and shop or something, chicks dig that stuff

heheheeeee
I feel for you Stephanie, I lived in Vancouver for about 3 and a half zillion years, Mommy still lives in Camas....Ugggghhhhhhhh, As a great comedian once said,

That's way too funny! I am originally from Camas, small world. A T28 ride would be completely amazing! And I've never been to California! I am actually getting ready to leave Vancouver this year, moving to Houston, so it'll be nice to see a different part of the country for a while!

If you want, PM me with a month, febuary, march, something like that, and I'll ask God if he has a date.
