Hey SN,

The aiplane is getting handed to one of my uncles or possibly my dad. The P-40s not going anywhere for a LONG time.

Hey Lynn,

You laugh and probly be highly amased at how its stored though. But yes the whole family takes car of it when moving, polishing, anything really. I hope you liked the information, but new news, ill have a fully webstie down on the P-40 by the end of January (at the latest).

Thanks! When I signed up for WIX I thought there would be more attention to the P-40 but yet it only seems to be about 10 of us on WIX who still car about them.

Hey Jeff,

The pictures that I have posted are the most up to date pictures I have, they where taken no more then 5 months ago during the summer. The P-40 doesn't come outside turning the winter, and the hanger where it sits is dark, so I can't get any till spring time.

I wouldn't go that far. I have enjoyed everything you have posted, and I love P-40s!

One of our family relatives was a Tech Rep for Curtiss during ww2. Dad has all his "documents" to and from the factory when he was in Egypt with the brittish. Been a long time since I had seen them, but I remember reading some correspondence about the sand intake into the oil coolers and also a problem with the guns.
For those of you Warhawk fans. Dig out your P-40 Walk Around book by Squadron Signal publications. Some of the pics are from Paul's collection via of my father.

Lots of stuff for the P-40 and the Hawk 75. I do remember copies of Blueprints too!

Wish I knew where they went but for a long time, my aunt (before the divorce) had 3 pairs of white mechanics overalls that had the Curtiss logo on the back in RED. Glen, I will ask around on where they went. If I can find them, I will see if I can have them and I'll send to you. Think that would be neat seeing you guys pull out the P-40 wearing origional overalls with the P-40.

If you looked on the first page you can also see that my dad doesn't throw away anything. The newspaper clipings are from the mid 70's! My grandfather has the complete manual on how to overhaul an Allison engine, and the book on how to do a complete dismantle and re-mantle of a P-40. Im sure he has Blueprints to.

Wow wouldn't that he a site to see! Grandfather and I pulling the P-40 out with P-40 coverals! Wow, that would make a good picture. Thanks, hope you find them!

I dont know if we have a P-40 maint manual.............I know there is a Bunch of manuals for the Hawk 75. Also a bunch for the V-1710 and the Curtiss Electric props.

Another note. 2 yrs ago I was in Indy for training on the AE 3007 (suck and blow engine) for my work. The instructor took us to the Allison factory. Was neat to see where there were once rows and rows of V-1710's being built. I am sure that I was the only one in the class thinking that! Anyhow, Paul was there when he was working with Curtiss on the P-40 where he met the company Nurse at Allison. She became his wife and was with her until his death in the late 70's. Dad told me that later that night when I told him that I was at the old factory.

I also wondered if there was anything burried out back :shock:

Now Now please don't think that.

Pay no attention to the F4U and Mustang crowd Nay Sayers. They know not what they say, for they are mere Lemmings that are only climbing aboard the "Band Wagon" :mrgreen:

But seriously I may be going out on a limb here by saying this but.... To the everyday person out there when you say "World War 2 U.S. Fighter Plane". I would imagine an overwhelming majority have the image of a P-40 come to mind. They might not know it's a called a P-40 but never the less the Shark mouth and Bird cage canopy will be there.

I will forever be in love with the Warhawk. It holds a sort of romance to it, just the like the Spitfire...Wouldn't you agree?
