I'm going to Beijing in may for a couple of days, then on to Chang Zhuo. What should I look for? I am already planning on trying to see the IL2 type planes that a great wixer sent me pictures of a long time ago. Hopefully they are still there. I have friends of friends (No s**t), where are these P61's supposed to be? Maybe I can take a picture of them.

Does anyone have any info on the P-47 on the left of the P-61. I know it's not as rare an aircraft but it would be nice to have it back also.

i'd say in even sh*t canned condition it would bring in excess of a million bucks. i'd stake anything on that bet. the 1 on mt. in cyclops new guinea will 1 day be picked up by someone w/ deep pockets too, & it's a bonifide wreck!!!

Tom, respectfully I don't think it's worth over a million bucks. First it's over there. It will be worth twice as much once it's delivered to a country like the U.S. that has warbird restoration facilities. A "flyable" A-20, is on contract at Courtesy for less than a million dollars, here in the U.S.
Also, you can get a barely flyable A-26, needing lots of maintenance for $130 K. Now remember that it is in horrible condition, and there isn't any expertise, except for a couple of guys at MEAM, on the P-61 and they haven't gotten theirs finished yet after 20+ years.
My guess, is it is worth maybe $100K sitting in CHina and $100k to $500K tops sitting on the dock in the U.S. with proper paperwork. The high end would be only if a couple of major names got in a bidding war over it.
YOu can find a rough but flyable B-25 for $300K. Which would you rather have?

There are some Il-10s, no Il-2s that I am aware of. Should still be there (in both places).
