I guess since I was made to swear to someone on this board that "Spitfires are far and above better than any other planes especially jets and T-28s", that I better pony-up and make a Spitfire post.

I found this on YouTube.com

It appears to be footage or atleast preliminary footage for the film Battle of Britain.

Anyone recognize the birds in the film.

This isn't the same Spitfire used in the Iron Eagle III film is it?

Well If your going to talk Spitfire's, Here is the video I have collected of probally one of the best Spitfire display pilots ever Jerry Billing.

Never will you see a Spit whipped around like this anymore.

Yep, NH904.

The Spitfire under the bridge is, of course, MH434, but the footage showing the pilot boarding her and flying around is from an ITV programme called "Foyle's War". The actual bridge footage is from the classic TV show, "Piece of Cake". There's also a VERY brief shot of the lamented CAF Spitfire IX, MK297 in there, too.

Unfortunately the link in your first post didn't work, Shay :(

I thought it looked familiar for some reason. Hmm.... I wonder if it still has the "Chaff" dispenser?

Thanks for the update. You definatly know your Spits.

Regarding the non-functioning link, appearently the author of the clip has removed it from YouTube.com.

It was pretty interesting. 2 Spits and 1 Hurri were being film by a crew. Some were ground scenes while other scenes were in the air around the airfield. Seems pretty rough so it might have been preliminary footage for a one film or another.

I was having a browse last night for another Spitfire-related query, and came across this link to a series of photographs taken of NH904 wearing more film colours - this time for Pearl Harbor, although the Griffon-powered Spit didn't turn up in the finished film!!

http://members.aol.com/tomsairtoair/spitfire.html

I seem to recall the original plan was to have this Spitfire dogfighting with the ex-David Price Messerschmitt Bf109E (now with Ed Russell in Canada) for the required "Eagle Squadron" sequences.
