Robeet McClurg of Skaneateles NY passed away. He had seven kills in the Pacific as a Marine pilot. Flew with Boyington and wrote the book "On Boyingtons Wing. He was 87 years old.

Aw, Nuts. Helluva nice guy, met him and talked with him at both of the recent Corsair Gatherings. At length at the one in Indy in 2002. He used to love to tell a story about being Boyington's wingman and how Boyington once had to use a cup in is corsair for 'relief'...and tried to throw it out the side of the cockpit, only to have it blow back in all over him....and if McClurg ever told anyone, Boyington threatened to beat his ass! Helluva loss to the Corsair and WWII community, a very nice guy and fun to talk to...privileged to have met him.

A loss of a true gentleman.

Blue skies Sir!

I also had the honor of meeting him at Indy, and I have his book.

Any idea how many, who is left from Boyington's Black Sheep?

Lt. Col. Tom Emrich, Lt. Col. Jim Hill, Lt. Col. Bob McClurg
During a show here in Ohio 2004. Glad I had the chance to meet him, and do alot of shows together during the last few years. We had alot of great stories during dinners.
1. He came in one night, and the tower asked him who is this..??
Lt. McClurg replied "Guess Who".. the tower turned off the Runway Lights and said "Guess Where"..!!
