Yes, I know it got panned, by both the critics and aviation enthusiasts alike, but hey, how often does a major Hollywood aviation movie come along these days?

I picked up my special edition DVD at Borders at lunchtime, so that's the next couple of evenings taken care of. I'm especially interested to see the 'making of' documentaries on the second disc.

The UK has to wait a few months more, as it's not yet listed for Region 2 release (and it never reached the theatres on general release there either), although I'm sure a R2 DVD will be available there in due course.

Mike, both times I've watched Flyboys I couldn't help wondering where the T6s were. I kept hearing them but they must've been just out of shot.

That is a shame because I saw the replicas at Oshkosh last year that they built for the movie. The full scale flying ones, and I thought they looked cool. Now I have not seen the movie yet, I just bought the DVD today, so I will let you all know.

On DVD? It hasn't even come out at the cinema here. That indicates how bad it was if our various cinema chains never picked it up. I guess it won't appear in the shops here for a while but I'll keep my eyes on the $5 bargain bins.

Hi Dave,

I don't think the lack of a NZ (or Australian) release is a qualitative judgement - much more likely to be a prior decision that the subject matter wouldn't be enough of a draw down under, sadly. Had it turned out to be a surprise hit, then it would probably have been taken up.

Cheers
