P-40 on the roll through Phoenix

Sun Feb 04, 2007 1:09 pm

Hello to the WIX board: longtime lurker, first time poster.

I live in Phoenix and driving out to Mesa on I-10 yesterday I saw a P-40 fuselage on a flatbed truck, mostly complete with a few engines, wing parts, etc on the trailer as well going westbound (towards LA, I'd assume). It was OD green, looked to be an N or maybe a K or M or L model (it was a quick glimpse) and it looked like it had faded Aleutians islands "Bengal Tiger" nose art rather than sharks teeth. Anyone know anything about that airframe?

Hacker: how's England treating you?

Welcome to the WIX Doctor!
I'm not sure what P-40 you saw, is it possible this one has been imported to the states?

There are a few P-40 experts here on the board that may have a better idea of which one you saw...

The Hanger 11 P-40 was reported in another place as in the air over North Weald on Sunday. Definately still in UK.
