Checking status on some Mustangs

With the gathering coming up and I know more will be added to the list I was wondering about some, if they flew anymore or maybe they stay close to there home bases, anyway just curious about these...

#11 - Paul I was retired a number of years ago, it remains at the EAA museum. I don't believe it will fly again.

#5, #12 - I'd love to know what happened to these aircraft as well. Used to see them in the mid-late 90's but haven't heard a thing about them since then.

Ken McBride's was stitting outside at San Martin's 'Wings of History' museum, wrapped in plastic sheeting and missing quite a few parts (wingtips, airscoop, etc) when I last saw it. Presumably the missing parts are being used as patterns for his parts-remanufacturing business.

Jack Hovey's is still active AFAIK - wasn't it in the Rolls-Royce Trophy display at Reno last year?

Isn't Risky Business now called The Healer, Rhienschild's (sp?) '51? I'm probably wrong but I thought it was a name change after restoration.

#12 - Charles Monthon "FF-330"

I think the last time I saw Charles Monthon’s P-51 was back at Geneseo 2000 if I remember right. I believe he is the only one who flies it and he may have lost his medical since then. From what I heard he was never a big airshow person but always attended the shows at Geneseo when he could for its relaxed atmosphere.

"The Healer" was one of Joe Kasperoff's Mustangs (the other two being the Regina brothers' former Mustangs, Angelo's "Widowmaker" which was renamed "Miracle Maker" by Kasperoff and Pete's B/C "Shangri-La" which became the red-and-gold "The Believer" and now, mercifully, is back in a USAAF scheme as "Princess Elizabeth"). I think "The Healer" and "Risky Business" are two different airframes but can't be sure.

That sounds way more credible than what I said.

"The Healer" is definately a different airframe than "Risky Business". Up until last year, "The Healer" was owned by Kevin La Rosa and was based at Van Nuys. It is all polished bare metal and in factory stock markings. "Risky" is still "Risky" and as far I know, is still under restoration up in Idaho. She was getting close before Reno last year, so she might be done by now.

Scotty might know more about the status of "Risky"

Mike Looney was just down here a couple of weeks ago and said that Risky Business is pretty much just waiting on it's engine. They should have it in a month or two if I remember him correctly.

If I'm not mistaken, Charlie Mothon is 80+. According to the FAA website his last medical was in 2001!

Anyone with a clue as to whether Humberto Lobo de La Garza will bring 44-72934 up from Mexico? I note both N314BG and N7098V on the list. Haven't seen all three (Pioneer Aero built) ex- Doug Arnold 51s together since 1992.
