Evenin' all.

Here's a pastime quiz - no prizes, just a warm glow if you contribute...

How many aircraft types have the name 'Hawk' as all or part of the name? Extra points (or glow) for non English variants, and aircraft named 'Hawk' by their owners...

Go...

Goshawk was the steam-cooled Kestrel variant, IIRC.

allright

translated to German it's "Falke" and "Habicht"

so we have Focke Wolf Fw-187 Falke

and the DFS Habicht glider (incl. short winged variant "Stummel-Habicht")
the Me-163S (Two-seater) was called Habicht

What about the F-16 Fighting Falcon family then ?

and Hawk in French is "Falcon"

so we have the Dassault Falcon biz-jet family, too

Aha, we can also squeeze Hairyplane's Miles Falcon in then. I'm sure he'll be delighted. Does 'Harrier' count? It's sort of a Hawk...

Martinsyde Buzzard??
Also those lovely Rolls Royce birds of prey, Eagle, Falcon, Kestrel, Merlin, Griffon and the not quite so lovely Peregrin and Vulture.
Any of these count?

Also, looking through my 'Boys Book of Sopwith's' what sort of creature is a Snark?

The Sopwith variety had three wings and a Dragonfly radial.

Hi All,

My good old mate Man on the Fence pointed me in the direction of this forum so...HURRAH!!!!....here I am!

On the subject of Hawks, please find me a Miles Hawk in any condition. OK, my Magister is described as a Hawk Major but it is a different aircraft to the gorgeous pre-war Hawk Major a la G-ADWT that I have to have but they won't sell it to me.

Maggie, Falcon and Ryan PT22 will emerge from winter maintenance looking better than ever - which is more than I can say for my bank balance...

I am a nutter...

HP.

So, HP,
You a) know and b) paid for your a/c to be scattered in small bits around the hangar at Old Warden? Good oh.

Anyway, back to topic -
Spanish for 'Hawk' anyone?
