What's the suggested overhaul time for the engines on the O-2?

Sat Feb 02, 2008 12:10 pm

I believe 1700 hours, but not positive about that. Either way, the engines on it are pretty high time, but are running great, as is the rest of the airplane.

The civillian IO-360's have a TBO of 1500, however the military dash 6 has a TBO of 2000 hrs. Same engines, just different operators. Also, the minimum cylinder differential compression check on the military is 35/80, and the civvie is 60/80 (recommended)

Ya know, You could get a lot close to funding those B-29 engines if a certain bent wing bird were offered for sale. The guy I work for is looking to add one to his collection. Just a crazy thought.

I was surprised that you didn't depart from there at Taxi E. I remember the days of waiting for ever trying to get out at that end......

Yeah, but the guys in the tower are pretty good about getting me out. I always do a quick right turnout to get outa their way. Plus, I don't like intersection takeoffs too much, if something were to happen on takeoff run it sure is nice to have all the runway at your disposal...even in the cub.

In regards to the "bent wing bird"...ain't happening. :D
