See the following thread where Cindy broke the news:Pat Carry wrote:I cant recall right now if this was previously mentioned here on the WIX but in Feb issue of Air Classics it mentions that the Planes of Fame has sold this Spit to a European collector. Anyone have any further info on this?

Cindy is a former volunteer at Planes of Fame/The Air Museum (their newsletter was called the TAM news), and I confirmed it in person- I am confident that it is the Spitfire she was referring to.RMAllnutt wrote:I don't believe that this is correct. If you go to the previous thread, you will note that Cindy said that TAM had sold their spitfire to a european entity, which would make it the former David Price Mk.IX MA793, rather than POF's Mk.XIX.

Hey Lynn,
I quess some people start asking question about why they were going to spend 2 million on the Spit. when they are still trying to pay off the move.

From the other thread:Col. Rohr wrote:Now for the TAM/POF I quess I really don't understand why they need to sell their Spit.
The new hangar will allow them to bring some things in from the cold and consolidate the collection somewhat. Just a hangar and some landscaping though, no architectural monoliths. These display hangars are vast improvements over the old days when the Zero used to be locked away in a T-Hangar for instance. More of the collection will be viewable in a more friendly environment, and the collection will be easier to maintain. Without the last hangar built, there wouldn't have been room for some of the Friedkin birds (Spit IX and Hurricane) to be on display. In the end, it is all good!Money will go to meet commitments for constructing a new museum hangar. If someone had stepped up with a sizeable donation, it would not have been sold.

I recall seeing it in the hangar a few weeks ago.Yak 11 Fan wrote:Is the Freidkin Spitfire IX ML417 back at Chino now?
