info needed on a few B-25s

Fri Apr 11, 2008 11:43 am

hello all,

I have been interested in some of the early model B-25's. I was wondering if anyone knew anything of a B-25B restoration project at Aero Trader? Current status?

Also does anyone know the status of B-25C #41-13251. The registry states its under restoration but the last info on that was 2002.

Thanks,
Nathan

I haven't heard of any serious plans to restore the B-25B. I think tha B-25C is pretty much sitting as well.

Can you imagine the flight line :D ..
we have a for real B-25 -
no B-25A   -
B (could be restored 8)
C (could be restored) 8)
D's..Don't we have a couple of these 8)
G  I saw a photo once of one that was photogrpahed in the pacific region in a jungle some where.
H's :D , we have a couple of H's
J's :D a butt load of J's /Both Versions :D :D
PBJ :D :D under restoration...
would be cool to see a flight line full of every model minus the Alpha..Open parking space for her......

I would love to see it. The B is only forward and rear fuselage so it would end up being a B and J kit bashing but still would be close enough for my money. We are looking at a few million though to get it in the air but someone someday may just want to foot the bill for it. Also the C/D are essentially same aircraft so you really represent both models with one of those aircraft. There are a few Hs around but only 1 flying with the cannon nose and one static. I would love to see some of the others restored with the cannon nose like EAA and Air Zoo examples. There are some really nicely restored J models these days. A lot of improvements in authenticity.

41-13251 was reported as parked at Pancaster Fox recently
40-2347 is reported std with Aero Trader in CA
Haven't heard about a 25B under restoration, but I'd be pleased to be surprised!
Our B-25J 44-29507 was test flown today, some flying display practices. Ready for the 2008 display season!
Kind regards

Munk, you have any dated pictures of her when she was with Jr Burchinal you could flash to me for my collection.

I believe there is also another static cannon nose B-25..believed to be an original "Pop" Gunn conversion
..tho it's on one of the south Pacific locations where the natives store them outside. I've seen photos
of it, I hope she hasn't been smelted yet.

Well there is/was an intact B-25G or H on Bougenville. You can see a picture of it on the main webpage of pacificwrecks.com. :D Why no one has yet got this is beyond me.

If I ever win big I plan on getting that B-25B and B-25C at Aero Trader and restoring both to flying condition. But for the most part that is a dream. :(

It's a "G" and it still has the cannon in it. (last we knew!)

Anyone know the status of B-25H #: 43-4432 at EAA? I see it is a "H" model but it has a glass nose on it? :( :? :?: Does it fly or is it static?

Don't forget "Miss Hap." I think that one predates the letter suffixes and is just a plain B-25.

As for the Air Zoo's Mitchell, I understand they went went with a J gunship nose because an H nose was pretty much impossible to find. I understand she was refitted with a glass nose when she was assigned to the First Motion Picture Unit during the war. When I first saw her in the mid '80s, she appeared to still have a glass nose structure, but the plexiglas had been replaced with sheet metal when she was converted to exec configuration.

I'd love to see a B-25C/D running around in authentic North African desert markings. I'm hoping the Yankee Air Museum eventually repaints their B-25D in her original markings, escpecially since she's a combat vet, and they have pictures of her in theatre. One of the Yankee guys told me they've left her bare metal because it's easier to maintain.
