AT-6 FIrewall

Hello Folks:

My Firewall has dents in it. I've hear almost all of them do. Has anyone tried to fix this problem? What have you done?

HI: WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY DENT?IF ITS ON THE SIDE WERE THE COWLING ATTACHES AND IS KINKED ITS PRETTY HARD TO REPAIR :roll:

Nothing yet, have to take my engine off first. You can't see much of the firewall with the the oil tank, battery, and junction box installed. How did it get dented and how serious are the dents?

If the metal isn't stretched you can get it hammered out. You can also use a flush or a scab patch, or replace it with a new piece. On my Stearman, I bought a piece of stainless sheet and made a new one myself. The original was only formed in two places with small dimples to clear some bolt heads.

Naw, they're all dented if they've been on the plane over the years. The problem with just replacing the stainless sheet is that it is spot welded.

Harbor Freight has spot welders on sale until January 31st.
