Take a second to think about the questions and they make a little more sense - "Why are you here?" Greeter wants to know if you are just stopping by briefly (which some warbirds do), if you are part of the airshow perhaps, etc. Why exactly you are there makes a difference in where you are parked.
"When are you leaving?" Are you leaving in an hour, the next day, etc? Again, makes a difference in where they park you and when services such as fueling arrangements need to be made if any.
The greeters at AirVenture are all volunteers, and while they may be terse (they have literally thousands of other airplanes to deal with), they are generally polite and helpful. As an EAA staffer all I can say is thank God for volunteers, each and every one!
