August 23, 1934- Barbara Eden, actress "I Dream of Jeannie"
August 23, 1934- Sonny Jurgensen, football quarterback
August 23, 1938 - Ronny Cox, actor
August 23, 1949- Shelley Long, actress, "Diane" on TV series "Cheers"
August 23, 1949- Rick Springfield, singer
August 23, 1978- Kobe Bryant, NBA basketball player

1970 River Phoenix (actor)
1769 Georges Cuvier (scientist, established the fact of extinction)

23 August is also:
Umhlanga Day (Swaziland)
Liberation Day (Romania)

On This Day In History:
1305 William Wallace (Scottish military leader) is executed by the English.
1821 Mexico independent from Spain.
1913 Little Mermaid statue unveiled in Copenhagen, Denmark.
1948 World Council of Churches formed.

And most importantly, on this day in history, 1914

Happy Birthday!

My official birthday was 18 August, but business travel put off the party until 23 August. You can add me to the list of not really famous aviators partying today.

Jenny/867-5309 was originally done by Tommy Twotone (sp?).

I prefer to refer to this year as the 17th anniversary of my 39th birthday.
