As far as the L-birds question - I'd be willing to do a separate category for both - one for US and one for foreign.
I'd also consider (interest, folks? I've got a book in mind...) doing a different category with a different prize for best reenacted aircraft scene (ie. not the kissing sailor and it could be airborne OR on the ground) from a WWII photo - markings and aircraft details could differ - and you'd have to post a copy of the WWII picture as well. On second thought maybe someone else should co-sponsor it... 'cause I have a few ideas. If not, I'll sponsor it.

Say, someone finally decides to go through all those old slides or negatives from the 60s or 70s and find a treasure trove. Should they be excluded because they waited too long to include them in the competition? Specifically if they are good, and deserving of a real comparison to recent pictures?
My next question comes in the form of category. Let's eval the above post where L birds get looked at....how do you define the category? What if I have the most incredible Navion shot...Does that count?
Lastly, we are very lucky to have a bunch of people who freely post "Their" pictures on this forum for all to appreciate. This "competition" should not be put in a light that discourages people from providing the information that we have all gotten accustommed to. IF it does, then it only distracts from the value of this site.
I believe that a limit should be set on submissions, that prizes should be clearly appointed for what is going to be awarded as a prize shot, and that a reasonable period for submission be available (not by tomorrow at 2, but you have the next 20 days, ending at ...).
The EAA has a great contest, as does AVweek. Not that we should get a magazine sponsor, but perhaps the rules, and guidelines are already out there for creating the foundation.
Lastly.....Ownership?......

You go ahead, Ryan.
I'm happy to put a fair amount of effort into WIX, as I am doing, but despite some kind offers of contributions from yourself and some others (you know who you are) there's too much of hoping someone else is going to make it happen.
A competition's a great idea. I put forward and modified some suggestions in the light of feedback - but I can't and won't try and make it work on my own, even with Scott's blessing and donations from a kind few.
So who is prepared to contribute?
