Warbird Information Exchange

I do not own any pieces off of a warbird unfortunately. I do however have a chunk of concrete from the runway at Halesworth used by the 56th Fighter Group sent to me by Buzz Took, one of the volunteers at the Halesworth Airfield Museum. I think I'd be in heaven if I could ever get my hands on a piece of a 56th P-47....

I've got a blown out P-51 tailwheel. I can't recall what Mustang it's from but it happened in Oshkosh when I was pretty young.

After seeing what great stuff some other folks have, I'm embarassed to admit how little I have. . .

Sitting here on my desk at work are two Wright radial engine pistons: one from the number 3 cylinder of the number 3 engine of B-17 Chuckie and one from an unknown cylinder of the number 2 engine of B-25 Pacific Prowler. I also have some assorted bits such as spark plugs, valve springs, etc.

I have a small accumulation of WW2 aircraft radio equipment, including five 7.0 - 9.1 mc command transmitters (Army BC-459A and Navy T-22/ARC5) and three BC-348 receivers (HF receivers used in large Army bomber and transport aircraft).

It ain't much, but it's sumpthin'. . .

A lot of y'all keep saying that "I don't have much," or "It ain't much, but it's sumpthin'." Well, I say whatever anyone has is something worth keeping. It doesn't matter if it's just a single piston out of an old clunky bomber, or acres of parts from various different aircraft. If you're on WIX, you're a Warbird junkie...and if you have any part of a Warbird in your possession, that means it's worth something to you...right? Well, I say keep on posting what y'all have, no matter what it is. And be proud of it!

I think it's cool that this old thread here came back to life.

I have a couple little pieces of metal.

The first piece is a little bit of corroded metal from the Canadian Museum of Flight's Handley Page Hampden.

The other piece I have off of what used to be Bill Thompson's Stranraer, which I believe now belongs to the Shearwater Museum in Nova Scotia. I any case, it's another piece of corroded metal.

I picked up the two pieces around the time that our museum was forced to move locations, and things like that were most likely just going to be junked (I don't mean the entire airplanes... hah... just the little useless bits of scrap).

I cherish those two pieces of beat up metal because they remind me of my childhood and the time I spent at the CMF back at Crescent Beach.

Good idea for a thread by the way.

Cant remember if I posted to this thread or not but I have wing skin from Lancaster, halifax and a Wellington bomber landing flap that are precious to me.

I have a spark plug from lower cylinder, number 3 engine, Memphis Belle. Got it in 1986 when visiting Mud Island on a photo shoot while they were doing the original restoration of the Belle after moving her to the island. They let me paint the 2 swastika kills marks on the tail-gunner position.

A throwaway part, to be sure, but one that was in the plane the last time she flew.

I have a piece of plexi from Lt Bob Vrilakas's P-38G of the 94th FS after a ME-109 put some rounds through the canopy during a dogfight.
Bob's crewchief picked this piece out of the cockpit and carved it into the hat-in-the-ring insignia. I guess it pretty cool!

Curtis Helldiver rear gunners canopy. (for sale)

P-51 control stick is probably the "coolest" piece I still have. I've got a 3350 & Merlin piston on the mantle right now, though I don't know how long the wife will let 'em stay there

Also a bunch of T-6 stuff and a few Mustang parts...Got to do a clean-up, someday.
