This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Beautiful photos Paul! How well do these things fly? I've spoken to a couple pilots that say they are quite the bear...just curious.

Beautiful shots! My first warbird ride was in a BT. Payback for helping the pilot polish it. Seems like a small plane until you start wiping the Flitz off with cornstarch...

At Sun N Fun there was a new aerobatic with a guy using a BT-13. It was earlier in the week. I missed it, but heard it was pretty good. Never heard of someone doing a routine in the BT.

Really?! The BT-13 is not rated for Aerobatics, must be a mistake, if not, I sure would like to see that!

Man, what a beauty

What kind of polish do you use?

In fact the Flight Manual states:
Normal aerobatics are permitted except
Outside loop.
Inverted flight.
Inverted spin.
Snap roll above 115mph.
Slow rolls above 168mph.
Spins in excess of 3 turns.
(The never exceed speed was 230mph)

Still wouldn't catch me doing it.

Those look like pretty normal limitations for a trainer to me.

Why? That's an interesting quote from somebody who has bt-13.org...
The SB's on the airplane were from the wooden tail models which had failures during excessive acrobatic flight. There are certain airplanes which I would hesitate doing acrobatic flight in, but most of them would do fine in that situation. What is your justification for such a statement?
