Personally I DO think a BT is better than a T6........................A stearman is not bad looking either for a cheap N3N knockoff................. :D

Why? That's an interesting quote from somebody who has bt-13.org...

The SB's on the airplane were from the wooden tail models which had failures during excessive acrobatic flight. There are certain airplanes which I would hesitate doing acrobatic flight in, but most of them would do fine in that situation. What is your justification for such a statement?

Not trying to pick a fight but I'm intrigued:

"My life" as in "it's MY LIFE mind your own business"?

Or,

"My life" as in "You'll never catch me flying an airplane in such a way as it was originally designed to be flown because that's crazy"?

I'm guessing your opinion is the same for all the Stearmans and Harvards and other trainers on the airshow scene as well? There's guys doing great routines with Tiger Moths still too.

Aerobatics don't always involve tailslides, they can be done quite gracefully and safely.

I'm glad someone's doing this with a BT-13, personally.

The problem with BT's performing acro is the resultant fuel tank leaks.

The fuel tanks are wet wings, and the sealing process is what I would describe as "not exact science". In the maneuvers, there is going to be some movement between the sheet metal members in the wings, and over time, this will shear the sealant between those members, allowing the fuel to find its way out.

When I was flying the BT at airshows, the BT drivers would get together and ask each other where their tanks leaked?

Well I stand corrected, the stearman was first. Guess we are the knock off. Guess thats how the Navy built the better airplane, learned from other peoples mistakes :wink: :hide:

BDK, it is totally irrelevant to the discussion here, but Mark Dinest has completely disassembled the center section he is working on and sealed it.
