Tom, are you referring to the camera shown in FAH 619s post or the camera mounted on the Ryan ? No argument from me that the camera only picture is Japanese.

Included is the other sample of machine gun camera. "The Hythe camera was designed to emulate a Lewis machine gun and was used as a training tool for aerial gunners" Ukn Manufacturer. Via FAH 503

fah 619, will pm you the pics of my camera, that illustration above is strictly a lewis machine gun. when i pm you the pics of my japanese gun camera, will you post them for me on wix??? would appreciate it as i haven't had a chance to figure out the photobucket thing, or pic transfers to wix threads. i'd love to share the pics with my brothaazzz on the wix man!!!! regards, tom

Sorry Tom, That's a Hythe Gun Camera. The rectangular box between the
reciever and the barrel is the film body of the camera.

That is clearly the same unit as the one in the picture posted. ( Camera only ). It still doesn't identify the camera gun mounted on the Ryan. That unit is completely different from Tom's camera gun.

I agree with you. A preliminary view of Tom's pics show his gun to be similar to the one mounted on the Ryan but not the same type. Tom will translate the Japanese ID plate later on for us and tell us the details.

The pic shown before (photograph only) of the WW II vintage Konica 4.5 looks very similar to Toms's artifact! Will post a front view pic of the lenses soon! machine gun camera buff/FAH 619
