Airworthy P-40's

Wed Aug 05, 2009 11:36 am

After looking through the Oshkosh thread got me to thinking about all the airworthy P-40's worldwide. Seems to me quite a few have become airworthy in just the past 2 years or so especially in New Zealand/Australia. Anyone have an inclusive list?

Hi Pat,

Here you go :D! My below listing comprises 27 flyable (I understand that can fly within one week) P-40's in the world.
The recently flown P-40's are highlighted in bold.

Hope that helps.

Ben

I think there may be one still in Janesville, WI. Last I saw, it was complete but it had not flown in a while.

War Eagles P-40E AL152 is in need of engine mounts, short of that it could be rolled out of the hangar and fired up.

Tell me more.

The only Warhawk I ever associated with Janesville was the E that Blackhawk rebuilt for Dick Hansen back in the 90's. Sadly this was the machine Bob Baranaskas lost his life in back in April.

My Dad has a pretty funny response when people ask why he owns two P-40's...... His response is... "Because I sold the other 3".

Wow, this P-40 looks amazingly good, as nothing can beat an authentic grey-olive MATTE finish. Congrats to the owner who shows so a very good taste :D

There's an unregistered, 'restored to airworthy' P-40N at Santa Rosa, CA (Pioneer restoration IIRC)
