Beth just sent this out. I thought I'd share it with my fellow WIXer's. Seems they are getting REAL close, but still are time-critical to reach their goal, or lose the Devil Dog. Please, dig deep and see if you can scrape up a few bucks to help get the Devil Dog back in the air and home to Georgetown. Can you send a check for $5 or $10 even? The small donations can quickly ad up to get them over the top!!
"Dear Devil Dog Friends and Family,
The Devil Dog Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force wanted to give you an update on where we are with the Devil Dog left engine. Aero Trader shipped a newly overhauled Wright 2600 engine from Chino California last week to Oshkosh, Wi. Evey accessary has been overhauled and new exhaust stacks have been ordered so the left engine like the right engine will have everything fresh and ready to be put back on. The plans are the first of the year to go up to Oshkosh and get the engine installed. A goal is to have it ready for airshow season which starts in middle of March of 2010.
We have raised over 80% of the funds. We wanted to thank everyone who has graciously donated time, money and their support with our efforts in raising the money to be able to keep the Devil Dog PBJ-1J in Texas. The Devil Dog Squadron has been truely blessed with such friends.
We have 6 weeks to raise the rest of the money and are confident that we can accomplish this goal, since we have come so far with this endeavor. For those of you who may of thought of supporting the Devil Dog we could use your help in the next few weeks. For those who have already donated, if you can pass the word on we would be most grateful. We want to thank all of you in helping give history a future.
Happy Holidays and Happy Flying,
