They pulled his ticket once and even though it was more of a slap on the wrist, I don't think he'll continue to do anything that will put his ticket at risk.

Skips involvement in this recent event is a moot point. He was flying perfectly fine doing low passes over the water at a distance from the crowd. The other guy Riggs was directly over the crowd below the 1000' min., and he was flying too close to structures. Skip was ok here.
So it seems...

In 1987 Skip was an ADULT! A USAF officer, test pilot, and once again an ADULT. Sorry, it could of been 1977 and its still no excuse.
BTW - I've had to opportunity to meet Skip and even work with him once, and as a pilot I have the utmost respect for him, he's one of the best. At the same time I will say that at times he thinks he's above the law.
There's been other scrapes with the FAA between 1987 and now, and post 9-11 and the current mindset of the FAA has nothing to do with it.
I heard he's going to walk....
I agree he is an adult and that it's no excuse, I'm just saying that nowadays, it's a lot harder to get away with "flying indiscretions" than in years past. I don't condone the behavior, but just trying to understand what would motivate somebody to so flagrantly violate the FAR's.
Again, somtimes some folks think they are above the law - other have no regards for it. I think Riggs falls into the later, but then read about his shady past....
