Oops, upon reflection I am pretty sure the DH-88 at Mandeville is actually a replica, bought in semi-completed after years of storage overseas.

Hi everyone,

Good to see you enjoyed your time Chris.

The aircraft shown in the pic (from the back), a DH89 Rapide, DH88 Comet, and of course the Tiger at the front.

The Comet is a replica, but you could just about say that G-ACSS at Shuttleworth is also as it has very few original components eg; carbon fibre top deck (front), non original engines and props, cockpit fit out etc.

The replica at Croydon will most probably be finished to represent G-ACSS ,but not in its red livery as Grosvenor House, but when in a light blue scheme as "Burberry" when flown by Arthur Clouston, a great New Zealand pilot.
But who knows its a long way off.

There is another being done in the UK (the black one "Black Magic").
This would make for a nice colour scheme and great modern day link with NZ ( the All Blacks and Americas cup) for the replica but better to do one that hasnt really been done.
The "Black Magic" aircraft in the UK is being called a restoration, but as I understand it, only has a few of the original aircraft components (read: very few) so I will leave it up to your own decision as to if it is an original or a replica.

Anyhow, better be off.

I certainly did enjoy the flight, Ryan.
Huge thanks again and I have permission to come back down for the Tiger ride too .

I must say that I can recommend it thoroughly to anyone here contemplating visiting New Zealand.
Go to Mandeville, have a (really nice) coffee at the Moth Restaraunt and go for a flight in the DH aircraft of Croydon Air's available.
(I was only too b*mmed about not having enough time down there)
