It was $550K the last time it was on eBay (a couple of months ago). Maybe I should wait
two more months for the next price reduction (down to $150K)... :D

I was the highest bidder at $100,000 a few auctions ago. Talked to my A&P about it and the big issues are the engine as there are none out there for it. If I remember correctly he said you could use a DC-6 engine but have to re-engineer an engine mount and cowling for it. The other issue it the crank down landing gear parts. He said my bid was still to high for what was there.

If it is an FM-2 it takes a variant of the R-1820 and if a genuine F4F it takes a variant of the R-1830 probably two of the most common large radials left, or am I missing something? Did either Wildcat have some sort of unique variant of those engines?
