There is an 8th CHADWICK, a B-1 based @ Dyess. And I love the 'done it on the ramp' ghostly overspray on the 7th CHADWICKS cowls and fuselage.

Great shots of WWII, Korean War and Vietnam era A-26/B-26 Invaders! The Korean War B-26 with all the red on the nose/front fuselage is interesting, that's a lot of red!

Nice shots of the Southeast Asia Invaders. Maybe I am mistaken, but I think the B-26K became the A-26A (not A-26K) when the Air Force "re" redesignated the B-26's to A-26's again.

You are correct, sir. As I understand it (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong here), originally the Thai government would not allow "bombers" to be flown from their bases, so the AF redesignated the Counter-Invaders as "attack" planes to get around that little "inconvenience". Later, of course, the Thai government relented and allowed bomber ops from their bases.

The "CHADWICK" nose art was started by Jock Henebry during WW2.. WIll post a pic later..gotta vote first!

I wonder what the timeline was on the Thai government's change of heart on allowing bombers in country? I'll have to dust off the history books and see when we started flying B-52's out of Utapao AB, Thailand. I wonder if it was after the Counter Invaders arrived?

There was about a 10 month difference. A-26A/B-26K "Nimrods" starting fly missions out of Nakhon Phanom, Thailand in June 1966 and B-52's starting flying missions out of U-Tapao, Thailand in April 1967.

I think this is the same aircraft that was at the Florence Air and Missile Museum, Florence, SC.
A Nimrods aircraft. There were bullet hole patches in the fuselage. If I recall correctly, A/C was Tom Black. I think I'll download a copy for my records. Thanks, Mark.

Looks like the crash happened before the landing! The bottom of the aircraft appears unscathed. I'd like to see the report on that one.
