It looks like XB-RIS may have become XA-KUN which was destroyed in an accident on 15 APR 57

I have alwasy wondered what type of plane Mexican Singer Pedro Infante died in and this is what I found. Could it be one of these planes?
From Wiki:
Infante was a fanatic of aviation, a hobby that would lead to his death. According to Wilbert Alonzo-Cabrera, his biographer, the actor was co-piloting a Consolidated Aircraft X B-24-D (a variant of the B-24 Liberator), which had been converted from heavy bomber war airplane to air cargo in San Diego, California. The plane crashed 5 minutes after taking off from Mérida, Yucatán, in southeast Mexico.

I believe it was the plane pictured above.

So what is the airplane in the distance under the tail of the B-24 in the photo above?

It looks a lot like a Cessna Bobcat, but something doesn't feel quite right about the tail.

Found this image of the wreck of the B-24 in the 1963 film
Asi era Pedro Infante:

There were a couple other images (including a shot of Pedro's charred remains, identified by a bracelet

) but this was the most identifiable. IIRC "TAMSA" stood for Transportes Aereos Mexicanos, S.A.
The 1966 film
La Vida de Pedro Infante also used a B-24 in the re-enactment of the crash. I think you'll recognize it:

Story was he was trying to get back to Mexico City in a big hurry - a judge had just invalidated his latest marriage and ruled that he was still married to his ex-wife...

N79426 is not in the January, 1971 U. S. Civil Aircraft Register.

Looks like a high-winged monoplane to me. It's definitely not a Bobcat, though. I agree that is not a Bobcat tail.

I'm thinking Fairchild 24C with the wings and maybe horizontal tail removed.

The FAA have very kindly advised:
"Aircraft that was registered as N79426 Consolidated B-24 J, and serial number 42-78774 was deregistered as of 04-21-1977"
Any thoughts on what happened to this "last" NAA B-24J airframe etc???
thanks
