Thank you so much for presenting a literate, logical, and straightforward explanation of all the facets of what really is/was one of the great question marks of U.S. WW2 aviation. I very much appreciate you taking the time to set this info out for the rest of us! :prayer:

Ditto to The Inspector's sentiments. Wow.

The CAF TBM that was restored by Jack Kosko's crew is going to be painted to represent a TBM from VMTB-143, of the aforementioned MCAG-2 from the Gilbert Islands in Bill Tate's post. It will eventually be aircraft P87, with the nose art of a pinup known as "Donna Mae" on the cowl.
