Anyone care to elaborate for those of us without Facebook?

Vlado received his Skyraider type rating.

... attack pilot ...

On a serious note, a buddy who has a fair amount of P-51 & A-1 time says that the A-1 is actually more enjoyable to fly; hydraulically boosted controls, etc. He also admits that a T-28 will beat a Mustang down low and that the Thunder Mustang out-performs the real thing down low as well, but that's another story.

The Mustang will frequently win with cool factor, but I'd rather be a Skyraider guy when I drink enough milk and grow up. I don't know how the AD-1 might differ systems-wise from the later models, but I hope that Vlado chimes in and shares with us his impressions (compare/contrast) of flying the beast.

Which doesn't explain why a modified T-28 with a more powerful engine is still much slower than even an unmodified, stock P-51 at Reno. And Thunder Mustang lap speeds are again slower than those of a stock P-51.

Amazing to climb aboard such a large, single seat aircraft.
Strong engine. Very easy controls. Lots of mass inertia....most noticeable in formation flying.....takes a bit of power to move into position.
Very simple cockpit and controls.
With weapons on wings, cruise speed is 180 knots.

I should have clarified; not overall speed, but general handling, stick forces, turning, climb rate, and pilot enjoyment factor.
