Huh? Which airport?

FJ-3M Bu 141393 now in full colour scheme for the first time in many years. (Kyle Kirby)

The picture and info below come directly from the f-86.tripod.com website:

Serial Type Location/Details
Bu 141393 FJ-3M Hickory Municipal Airport, Sabre Society of North Carolina

*Nose and tail of FJ-3 Bu '135965' also noted at Hickory Oct00.

Not too sure of how recent this is, but I'll be heading over that way soon and can check on whether it is still there. I know that the Sabre Society of NC has had some major financial difficulties.

Dave

FJ-3 ( Bu# 135774) is at the Evergreen Air museum, in McMinnville, Ore. She is inside as a static display. Currently painted up in VMF-333 colors ( with BU# 136119 painted on the tail! Don't ask me why ;)) She actually flew with VMF-122.

Is this the Fury that Bob Sturges had for years? I have a 1972-era photo of that one somewhere when sitting in Troutdale.

"Huh? Which airport?

" The list of FJ survivors is of course, incomplete and shows the FJ in Hickory NC as being an incomplete airplane. Probably Brandon can verify that the same FJ that I saw a couple of years back at that airport, is still there, and complete?

I'm sure this is old news to everyone but checkout this website:

Dr. Sugden has a fabulous FJ that will be on the air show circuit this year! They will be in Wendover August 25-26 for our air show.

The FJ-3 Fury at the Marine Corps Air & Ground Museum in Quantico, Virginia is BuNo 136119, not 131699. Rob, if you send me your email address in a PM, I will send you scans of two photos of this aircraft that I took in August of 2001. Feel free to use them in the Registry and/or post them to this thread. I have yet to sign up for a photobucket or webshot account. At the time these photos were taken, this Fury was stored outside in the parking lot of the base gymnasium along with a Douglas F3D Skynight and F4D Skyray.
