Quote:
64064 was built by Consolidated Factory, Lake Ponchartrain, New Orleans, as c/n 2134 by the end of the war and delivered to US Navy as BuNo. 64064.

Between 1966 and 1973 she was the first Watebomber in France as F-ZBAZ Pelicsan Noir.

After completed military service she and three other -6A aircraft N10011, N10013 and N10014 were purchased by Frank Ayers to be used by World Wide Airways in Canada.
Since the -6A was not certified in Canada at this time they were all converted to -5A.

In the mid -50s N10011 became CF-IZZ, N10013 became CF-IZO and N10014 became CF-IZU they all were converted to waterbombers and survives as such.
CF-IZO is resident at the aircraftmuseum in Bodö, Norway paitned as FP535
CF-IZU is preserved in St Anthony, Newfoundland,
CF-IZU / EC-FMC is now for sale.

Between 2009 and 2011 we spent over 2500hrs putting her back to airworthy status. Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances we have decided to withdraw from the project and put her up for sale.

64064 is Basically complete, with very little corrosion, most hoses are new and the propellers are freshly overhauled and polished.
the engines miss all documentation
Airplane time state Basically good engines w/o documentation
Interior Basic water bomber
Exterior fair
Avionics Basic -70´s
Remarks The aircraft is in very good shape and need two P&W R-1830-92. and a couple of weeks of work to be made ferryable.

I wonder where the plane was at between 1945 and 1955/56?

From JB's website:

64064 (c/n 0192 or 2134) converted to PBY-5A for Canadian certification at some point and was registeed to
Trade Ayer, Inc May 28, 1956 as N10011 before export to Canada Jul 20, 1957.
Civil identities (oldest first) were CF-IZZ, F-ZBAZ, CF-IZZ again, then
F-ZBAZ again, then CF-IZZ for a third time, then C-FIZZ,
then EC-940, EC-FMC. Consensus seems to be that this aircraft was built as a PBY-6A without an
allocated c/n

Hi Fouga23 - thanks for the prompt! As far as I know it is still for sale - I saw correspondence very recently that suggested it was which presumably means that David Pajus has decided to give up his plan to get it flying and import it to Sweden. Would love to be proved wrong though!

In answer to CoastieJohn's query about this Catalina's whereabouts between 1945 and 1955/56, I can say that it was with Hedron FAW8; ComAirLant; Hedron FAW5; VP-73; VP-AM-4; NAF Philadelphia Pool; VP-AM-4; VP-34; O&R Seattle; Litchfield Park storage; O&R San Diego; O&R Seattle; NART Akron; NART Atlanta; Litchfield Park storage; SOC 07May56.

Thanks David, I wondered if it had a USCG link somewhere in the lineage. I could not find one for it but you never know if it could have been a spare or something like that. We had a PB1-G like that.

Well, it seems not.

I see I did not refer to the question about this Catalina being built as a PBY-6A but I can confirm that it was but later had the tail surfaces converted to PBY-5A format in order for it to be operated in Canada as, at the time, that was an issue. Two other PBY-6As affected by this were CF-IZO and CF-IZU, both of which were in effect converted to PBY-5As.
