North Weald's B-25 to move for restoration

Sat Mar 11, 2006 2:07 pm

In Scramble magazine (March 2006 issue) I read an update about
44-30861/N9089Z/G-BKXW: it was soon to be transported to Wycombe Air Park for restoration!
How far it will be restored was not clear to me from the text. For
transportation years ago people sawed the midspar, making it unsuitable for flight. Still, a very nice development as the neglect of this historic plane was a great shame.
I photographed it in 2003:

But my question is: who is behind this restoration and what is the purpose
(sale, museum display, airworthiness ?). Who is the owner ?
I'd welcome any details.

Ruud,

The April 2006 issue of FlyPast sports a picture and article on the 'Bedsheet Bomber'. It says there are plans to place it on display. No name of the new owner is given.

I was at North Weald today. The tailplane and vertical stabilisers have now been removed, otherwise it looks the same as these pics I took at the beginning of February:
