A-4 in Wasta South Dakota

Stopped for gas and found this on display. Didn't have time to check out the museum there.

Seen it on my way to Sturgis couple weeks ago. Also stopped at the South Dakota air & space museum.
It was pretty neat to see/hear about the missile silos in and around South Dakota, in fact one of them is open for tours.

When in doubt, go to Joe Baugher:
"147681 to MASDC as 3A0337 May 25, 1971. Plane with this serial number in military museum at Wasta, South Dakota."

That's a fine looking collection of parts. Wonder how gutted it is ?

Why so critical? Do you know something we don't?
Looks far better than a "collection of parts".

Looks great! Well painted and seemingly protected (openings closed and plugged as much as outside can be)!

Someone got the numbers transposed....you quote:
"...149681 A-4C displayed"

In the previous posts we call the A-4 147681...not 149681.


My United States Naval Aircraft since 1911...doesn't list a BuNo even close to that.
The only A-5 listed with the last two numbers being "81" is 149281.

John, Has nothing to do with looks ! I tend to looks at most statics of a particular type as a potential source for spares !
