sitting on your chute on the ramp is a good way to make it not work when you need

This is a serious question regarding your above post.

Why would it not work?

What is the difference for example, of him sitting on the parachute over the concrete and, sitting on the parachute over the metal on the airplane seat?

The chute can be damaged by oils on the ramp, crash the posts that hold the pin so it can't open and its not a good idea to treat you life saver that way, can ruin your whole day. When in the plane keep it protected and it can save your life.
