Thanks Jesse with your help I found this on Wikipedia....I would say this is the plane..

In February 2004, a restored and re-engined (with turboprop engines) aircraft, the Do-24 ATT, began flying around the world on a UNICEF mission to assist children in the Philippines. The Do-24 ATT is piloted by Iren Dornier, the grandson of Dornier founder Claudius Dornier. Upon completion of the work with UNICEF, it will be run as a special charter airliner by South East Asian Airlines. HOME | Do 24ATT - An Iren Dornier Projekt It was flying at the Berlin ILA in May 2014, equipped with the Advanced Technology Wing developed during the Dornier Do 228 programme. It was then the only airworthy Do 24 of any sub-type.[9]

There's a video of it (check YouTube) water-looping on landing in Austria during a Scalaria Challenge event. About buried the nose in the water and reportedly took some damage, popped some rivets, and had a few leaks, but did not sink.

It hit a log in the lake, hence the ground/waterloop. A bit of googling reveals that it's still in the process of being repaired, in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. Look for Dornier Do24 ATT on Facebook; they have a Facebook page. It's an extremely impressive aircraft to behold. Never thought it would fly again when seeing it on display for years in Munich museum right on my doorstep.

That's what the owner reported in various German media. And it's actually not that big I find (having stood next to it and seen it in action several times).

The "log ploy" is not unlike the "goat on the runway" when bouncing a DC-3.

If you look at the video it is very plain to see that it touched the water going too fast. The forward part of hull is in the water resulting in the pivot point on the water being the nose. The resulting "water-loop" is what seaplanes do unless they touch down at the proper speed and deck angle.
