They did to some extant. The right wing clearly shows the twist from hitting the ditch and you can see the “crease” in the rear fuselage. I am sure anyone who is seriously interested will get detailed pictures. They were really picky about pictures of it at the hangar so I am guessing they don’t have any interest in having detailed shots of the damage floating around the web.

My repair plan:
-Load ac on trailer.
-Head to Abilene on I-20.
-Stop for lunch at Joe Allen's.
-Head northeast 59 miles to Breckenridge.
-Drop it off at Ezell and say "Call me when it's done".

Where's the stop where you mortgage the house and your kids' college future? :)

I'd send it back to John Lane's shop, Airpower Unlimited, that did the original, award-winning and trend-setting restoration in the first place. This Corsair, along with Midwest Aero Restoration's P-51D "Cripes A' Mighty", both completed one year apart from each other in the early 2000s, are the two restorations that I credit as having spurred on my interest the most in the super-authentic, accurate, detailed restorations. When this one was completed, no one had ever seen an airworthy Corsair returned to such an accurate, original from the factory, state. I distinctly remember it taught the judges a thing or two at the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trophy event in 2003.

I'm with John, I would definitely send this back to Lane. It's a beautiful machine, and was a shame to learn it got bent. Doubly so for Canadians since the sale of this bird has been expected ever since the incident, so we're losing our second Hammy Gray commemorative Corsair.

Hoping to see it looking better than ever in a few years.

Sounds like a plan, good choice...
