If there ever was such a thing as "danger close", that's it! There can't be six feet between that prop and the ground there. Luck for you and the pilot that you elected to skeeedaddle out of the way. :D

Remember what your mom said when you did something dangerous as a kid?

"Glad you are OK, now DON'T do that again, or I'll tan your hide..."

Well, like I mentioned at the beginning of this thread, I'm not wanting to start another battle about low passes, I just thought y'all might find the pictures entertaining.

And yes, we did bring 'em up a little higher on the following photo shoots.

Well RetroA, you have confirmed my suspicions...one has to have
some level of mental instability in their history to WANT to wrench a B-29! :D

Great photos..Thanks!! Would love to see sequence shots of the tailcam someday.

What we do in youth we probably wouldn't attempt in later years. One time
I rode the Guadalupe River during a 5000cfs release wearing a wetsuit and
a vest. Did I ever do it again? H*LL NO! Am I sorry I did it? H*LL NO!
What's the saying about "no old bold.....

Well, I can give you plenty of reliable sources that would confirm my level of mental instability. And trust me, there are plenty of days I don't want to wrench on the B-29 (I miss the fighters), but that I need to wrench on the B-29 in order to try to get it back in the air.

My comment was a poorly worded attempt to point out that, I'm glad you
survived your low-pass photo days to end up jumping square into the middle of FiFi.
It takes a certain level of chutzpah to do either...FiFi is a very lucky lady, on both accounts!

I'm glad to see some of you guys are digging out your old photos and sharing
them with us...no matter the quality. I blanch when folks start critiquing
how dangerous it was or telling a gent he wrong about a detail he's remembering
before he finishes his tale. These photos of the early days are hardly ever
seen on the CAF websites..so it is left to the kindness of the folks who were
there at that point in time, in taking the time to share those memories.
I wonder how many photos are gathering dust, because the owner would
rather forgo the risk of such critiques, or they feel the technical quality is not sufficient to show them?
Sorry for the ramble..

Again, thanks for the "Bad" photos Gary. More, please Suh?

Thanks for the kind words, and I'll see if I can get a few more photos scanned in the future.

Gary,

Guess they were never at the Saturday night party each year for the airsho, like when Huntress III came "right by" the party
It was sweet. I can't count the number of times I could reach out and touch them as they came. Its a Texas thing 8)
