Can anyone explain what's going on with the wing weapons configuration?

I'm not much of a Mustang expert, but isn't the subject aircraft an RAF Mustang I (with the K-24 camera mount behind the pilot) rather than an A-36?

I'm sure someone will set me straight.

You are correct Dan.

Shay, what's going on with the wing armament is that there are two .30s and a .50 in each wing; standard Mk.I configuration. You can see it on the EAA's XP-51 which was a diverted early production Mk.I.

That's a neat print; I would like to know more about the aircraft and unit. I read the name as "Lazy Lady" not "Lovely Lady" as the listing has it. The writing on the back appears to be a Toronto address, so perhaps it's RCAF.

August et al--

Yep, that's "Lazy Lady", Mustang I AL986. In the fall of '44 she was on 430 Sqn RCAF, coded P; there's a different shot of her in the old Ian Allan "At War" series book on the Mustang.

Wouldn't a new-build Beck P-51A look smart in these markings over at Gatineau...??
