served in the RVN from 11/68 to 01/72 with the 227th of the 1st Air cav. 57th AHC & the 361st AHC


67-15826 Pic #3
Served in RVN from 02/69 to 6/69, she went back to bell for repairs then back to RVN 05/70 to 3/71. Serving with the 101st ABN, 166th trans co, 11th ARM CAV & 11th ACR.

6/13/69 while returning from a fire mission west of Tam Ky 67-15826 crashed due to a lost tail rotor at altitude. Pilot Capt Adrian J. Johnson jr was KIA. Wall location 22W-040

Their demonstration was actually pretty cool. Here are a few more pictures from their demo. The pictures are actually my brother's from when he posted them, but they look pretty much exactly the same as mine!

The Sky Soldiers are debuting their Huey Cobra Formation Demo Team at Dayton. Four, gloss black, Cobras with a gold accent stripe. Smoke generators and a routine built around the Cobra's assets should make an incedible show!
I spoke with Mike Brady at Muskegon about it and he was really jazzed up about the debute!

I can't figure out what those extensions to the exhaust are. Any clues?

Why "N" numbers? If civilian a/c then why are they armed?

Makes me wonder if any of them had to be re-masted after the Huey SOF a few years back.

And; lastly where in the world did the a/c history come from?

Just a few questions from one of the Armys last 15M20F's.

They are operated by the Sky Soldiers, a civilian organization, hence the N-Numbers.
They are armed in looks only. Nothing leagally works according to Mike Brady.
Don't have answers to the other questions, but I believe they actually have 14 Cobras at their facility. Not all flying, some for a/c support.

As for the N numbers they are not U.S. Army helicopters but belong to the Army Aviation Historical Foundation. The Sky Solidiers are just a part of this fine organization. I saw them perform at Oshkosh a few years back with other helicopters and their C-7. I must say they put on a very impressived show of securing a landing zone, resupply via air drop, and evaucation. To me it looks the extension on top of the exhaust is the location of the former disco light...
