I was only in the area last week as it happens:


the airfield was pretty desterted when I was there - if they are in a hangars then I didn't have access - saw no signs of then outside


there is certainly a C-123 parked up - didn't get a photo as I was tired and there was a lot of construction

The Arizona Wing of the CAF is located at Falcon and has a number of aircraft on display. There are also several DC-3s, DC-6s, Harpoons, Canberras, and others scattered about the airport.



Not that I'm aware of but there is a T-33 on display within the ROTC compound of Agua Fria Union High School. You can see it in google earth here:

Yes, on a pole.



There used to be several T-6s at Deer Valley including several ex-Sky Typer machines but I'm not sure what is there now. The entire Cactus Squadron was based there but I'm not sure what has happened since the loss of Carl Schmeider and his T-6. The Crusader are all gone now. Not sure about the Mig-15 but there is a Mig-17 amongst all the L-39s which can bee google earthed at:

Titan Missile Museum is located at 31 54 11.58N and 110 59 56.60W on Google earth. Hope this helps

Some additional info:



It is mounted on a pylon at Williams Gateway Airport.(The old Williams Air Force Base)




There was up until approxamately 20 years ago. It was taken down and disposed of for liability reasons.



All are located in the Arizona Air Guard facility. All are in good shape. The F-86 is located at the gate. The others are inside the facility. Unknown if there are any other airframes.

Add to your list an F-86D mounted on a pylon in Chandler.

Also, there is a T-33 mounted on a pylon at the American Legion in Apache Junction

25 and 26. You can never tell what is hidden away back in the scrap yards. It is likely that there are parts of sabres in the Dross yard but I've never noticed one intact in there. The scrap dealers do not encourage visitors who aren't planning on dropping large amounts of $$$ on them. Its hard enough to get some of those guys to deal with you when you do want to buy something. Also Bob's Airpark is long gone, sold out when Bob Hoover died about 8 years ago.

There is an F-84F at Gila Bend AFAF, well maintained, and a number of de-milled aircraft waiting to be targets on the ranges: 6 or so A-4M's, 4 A3D's, several F-106 fuselages, an A-7E in great shape, several AH-1's and Mohawks. Also, if I'm not mistaken, an old Mace missile. Also at Gila Bend civil airport are two RF-101's that were recently cosmetically restored. No F-100's I've seen. There are many F-4's, 102's, F9F's etc used as targets on the ranges, but they're pretty far gone. I'll look at Ajo next time I fly over, but I haven't seen anything there yet. Goodyear and Peoria are on my side of town, so I'll look, but I've never seen any fighters at Goodyear Airport; there is a DC-7C that is complete on the north side of the field. I'll look for pics.

The Apache Junction T-33, 53-6008, is mounted on a pole at the American Legion hall at 1018 S. Meridian.

Is the C-123 an ¡§active¡¨ airframe, or is it a case of it not going anywhere anytime soon? Where exactly around the airport is it? I took a look using Google Earth, but no C-123 shape stood out. I may have overlooked it.

I have include the location of the MiG-17 (that was probably a case of the MiG-15 misidentified) and the L-39s. I have also noted the removal of the F-8, and dropped the mention of the T-6.



I already had CAF listed, but not specifically at Falcon. I corrected that.



Actually that is a typo. I meant to ask if there is a F-86 Sabre in Goodyear.

I should have asked if there is a A-37, F-86, P-50 and T-33 there as well. Is there?



I have removed the reference to the T-38 in the town of Mesa, and left the Williams reference.



That confused me when I was building the list. It is part Pima ASM, but it is not co-located with Pima ASM.

I would guess it is a safe bet none of these other interesting airframes are accessible to the public.

Thanks. There is potentially a F-84 in Peoria and a F-86 is Goodyear.



Oh so that is what that big thing was! I have added the DC-7 to the entry, and left the questions of the F-86 there as well.

I have updated the map link. Is it now pointing to the WASP Museum building? It looks more like an industrial site.

Regarding the F-84 in Peoria, unless it has been removed recently, it is there. I think it's located at an American Legion or possibly a recruiting office. I could not find it on google earth for whatever reason but I know it's there!

Regarding the C-123 at Deer Valley, it is inactive and is located in the north-west portion of the airport. It's camouflauged so it's hard to spot on the dirt! Looks like a bright white DeHavilland twin parked next to it.

Last but not least, there are/were several OV-1 Mohawk airframes stored at a farm out in Glendale. I will see if I can find them on Google earth assuming they are still there.

PS - There is also a Cougar on a farm in Buckeye, do you have that one?

3. yes there is an F-16 in Douglas. Google Earth at:

Museum at Kingman #10

West side of the ramp, there is a Yellow Twin otter?????? Or maybe a Cl-215 that is pointing south. The old blk roof building just to the north of that airplane is the museum building.

Wife let me go to kingman while on our Honeymoon in Vegas!!!! Was neat to see where all those bombers went to there destruction. Wish I had know that there is actually lots of stuff to still see out there or I would have gone and walked the desert. (Lots of fuel cells)

Another thing you might mention.................The museum was closed at kingman but before we went to the airfield, we visited the Historical society in town. They has some stuff on the airfield including a display of bomber parts that were found AND a big cut piece of skin containing some nose art. It was a B-17 but I dont remember the name of it. I just remember commenting on some of the rivits that "rosie" did.
